[#2712027]

Need something for my dad's mtb to [s]ride[/s] trundle round town on, nothing off road at all. He's not doing huge mileage but has nearly worn the current cheap mtb tyres down to the carcass.
Puncture proof-ish would be nice too considering the amount of glass around on the streets of Brum.
Anything cheap-ish about?

I've been impressed by my Schwalbe Kojaks for around town use.

DMR Moto.

Perfect - Cheap, high volume, fast rolling, good puncture protection.

Schwalbe City Jets do the job for me, although I did have a thorn puncture recently (from some cut hedgerow).

Have heard comments about them being a bit slippy in the wet, but I must ride like a right ninny, as I've never found them to be an issue.

Shwalbe City Jets. Cheap as chips. Last forever. You can get them in 1.5 or 1.9 and they seem immune to the glass/discarded syringes/splintered human bone/baseball bats with nails through the end, my commute regularly inflicts on them

Panaracer T-Serv are great if you can find them.
They're a tougher version of the Pasela and are very fast rolling at 100psi, tough as old boots too.
Seem to last forever as well.

Schwalbe Marathon Plus are very good, if you can get them on the rim!

More votes for the schwable and the City Jets can be had for £20 a pair, so I think we have a winner (he's lost more bikes than I've owned, spend lots on his bikes can be fustrating affair).
Cheers guys!
