I've got the bro-in-law in our family secret Santa, he wants a comfier saddle than the Commencal own brand thing that came with his bike. He's a newbie MTBer riding a hardtail. I know saddles are personal preference, but what is the general go-to comfy saddle? The charge spoon used to get a lot of mentions?

Charge Spoon at a pinch. Not a lot of pressure relief though IME, but could be down to me latterly carrying extra poundage. SDG Bel-air works for many (me included although prefer older/redundant Specialized BG models so tend to buy used or old stock nowadays to the point of stockpiling)
WTB Pure V and Speed V also comfortable IMO
