Hi all.
Planning on a day trip to CYB on Saturday with the aim of riding the Beast + some other bits. Question is, what other bits? Its been a couple of years since I last went and I've seen the pics of massive berms and stuff which look like a load of fun. So, what else do I ride? Was thinking of doing the Beast first, grabbing some food afterwards and then heading out for an hour or so afterwards before heading home. Whats the best short option for a load of fun?
I did the beast today, far too much fireroad climbing for me, spend about 2.5hrs going up hill for only 30mins of DH, unless that's what you like! The Tarw Du is closed for forestry work at the moment too, the big berms are on the MBR trail anyway, so you'll end up doing them anyway. The minotaur is great for a final blast after lunch/a break.
There is a small section of berms on MBR/Beast, but it's possible the OP is thinking about the start of the blue route.
I did the beast todaySnap! i was on it today as well ๐
The climb is a bit boring, next time i'm going to cut the top loop out by continuing up the tarmac road after Hermon and joining the start of Gomez ๐
It was a lovely day up there today!
OP try the Cyflym Coch or you can unwind on the new pump track?
The new bermy bit in the Beast is the Adam and Eve replacment so is just on the trail... It's good fun, mind you so is the old line which I think is still there.
PS Northwind luvs CYB.
I'm pretty sure your picture is of the new skills area. It's up next to the go ape. Definitely worthy mucking about on after lunch
That's all the new stuff in the car park.
There is a lot of fire road on the beast. Well, there is a lot of fire road on all of the trails. Gets a bit frustrating riding down them too, when someone could have cut a trail even into the edge of the tree line that follows the side of the road.
I've never noticed a high fireroad/singletrack percentage at CyB. Certainly no more than any other trail centre (certainly not more than Ae!).
Cheers all. Think I'll jsut do the Beast and then ride anything else until I collapse!
You can miss out the biggest / most pointless climb by taking a cheeky shortcut straight up the road from the mid-way cafe stop and going direct to the top of Gomez. Personally, as a bit of a climb-loving mincer, I'd say that was cheating, but plenty do it and have lived to tell the tale... ๐
Minotaur blue afterward FTW though, it's a pump-track most awesumz!!
