Would that work. I've never used one on a car, never mind a bike. Would it take the decals off? Would it even be beneficial over a wash and a polish? I've seen cars that have been done with it and they really sparkle afterwards.

You've got too much time on your hands!
IT certainly wont take the decals off, its just a lump of clay/plastoscene. It pics up little bits of dirt that have stuck into the paintwork and I cant see that you'd benefit on a bike. Just wash and clean over as usual and then polish with Mr Sheen if you want - or dont bother as it'll be getting filthy again tomorrow 😀
