just wanted to know am i asking to much for my frame?
it's a ano so cost a bit more to buy initially, i've looked after it well and it's running a tftuned shock to stop the bottom out issues of HV fox rp23's that come with some hecklers

i expect a little haggling for cash and collection, just wonder on people thoughts.
thx
If no interest at that price then probably yes. But wait long enough and someone will probably go for it near to that price. Or eBay it but allow for up to 15% in charges.
why does it matter where your gf lives ?
general rule of thumb for anything bike related really generally sold new at full rrp is 50% off in first year then 10% off each year after. I guess you're not far off, though 600 or just over might be more likely to ask?
cuz someone from manchester may be interested and if they are i could get the bike up there arranging to stay over at hers on a weekend..
cheers jamesG.
scu98rkr - I assume he means he can drop it off somewhere en route to visiting her??!
scu98rkr - it gives another option of pick up point if the buyer wants to collect.
I don't think that the ano will really add to the value second hand.
The shock tune similarly doesn't really increase the value (IMO)
IIRC they're around £1200 new so I'd reckon that £600 or so is more likely to be a starting point, unfortunately.
isnt TFtune done to rider weight so potentially useless to a new buyer (though it is always listed in ads as a positive feature)?
Have you searched fleabay closed auctions to see what theyve fetched there- the extra might more than cover your ebay/paypal fees? Have you searched classifieds here to see what hecklers have gone for?
Seen Nomad frames go for £750 on fleabay, and IIRC the Nomad retails for a chunk more than the heckler?
Foz - I've seen your advert a few times and have been tempted, thought it was quite a bargain. Cannae be arsed with postage costs, though. Oh, and Im skint.
I think the typical STW user has deep pockets but short arms.
munge yes and no (bit of both), mine is tuned for an average weight rider (around 12 to 13st with biking kit) basically as the shock would come from SC but i had greater bottom out resistance dialled in.
LOL @ jimmy thanks
hmm lowered my price anyways.. thx for the imput
not sure about a rule of thumb - as mentioned above Nomad's are going for £700 yet I have been watching Chameleons (xl) a year or so old going for just over £300 which seems higher than what I would have expected.
Rule of thumb- 50% of that years RRP. You couldnt price a 07 Nomad using 09's RRP though as the VPP system has been changed.
So I think your probably spot on with your £650 price. Going back to the previous Heckler they were going for c450-500(?) because they were 899/999 new?
I'd be patient. There will be buyers along- sometimes it takes time.
What I dont 'get' is a old shape Chameleon frame went for £311 on ebay last week considering it was £399 when new.
cheers Hora..
Saying that, some models are more desirable than others. I wouldnt sell my Orange5 frame for £550. No way but a Spesh would probably go for less than 50%- probably 40%?
Hold onto it- someone will ping you an email saying 'still got it'? Yours is anodised as well.
From memory I sold my 18month old anodized Blur4x for £650 (£1149 new).
keep on advertising it and someone will buy it
remember my DHX shock that you expressed an interest in but the price was to high ?
well I got what I asked for it in the end 8)
hmmm i can wait while i make my mind up
either
or
yellow

4 to 6 week wait on the yellow though
Yellow with a brown swingarm
haha!
From memory I sold my 18month old anodized Blur4x for £650 (£1149 new).
Yeah but your Blur won't have been used to any appreciable measure 😉
yellow + black swing arm + silver forks = a mess!
I think swingarm should either match frame or forks, preferably the main frame to give the bike some "flow".
Agree with Hora that some bikes will hold their value more, and would include the heckler in that so if youre not desperate to sell then hold out.
I would argue that the Mk1 has points that appeal more than the Mk2 as its USA built (some niche snobs think thats a big deal) and has the swoopier clamshell top tube, the newer ones look less distinctive. And I cant afford a new one. 😉
Nice dilemma to have.
does look a mess, i was thinking my black forks and all yellow swingarm and body but the green it growning on me...
hehe yer less shagging dog munge and "not usa made" for whatever difference that makes? welding is as good if not better (USA ones are made originally by a window/cladding company then moved inhouse before going away overseas.. i know is i've been there to see the production before it moved)
my bro has a nomad and he replaces the bearings to much for me, after riding his i like the idea of the tweaked vpp2 and geom on the nomad lost a little of its look though.. sadly..
jalapeno's niiiiiiiice
should have said, if you're coming up to Scotland and haven't sold the Heckler, bring it with you!
no Scottish trips for a while, the GF has a plan for next year, it will be needing ALL the pennies i can save..
i love the look of the Mk1 nomad, but cant quite get away from the "labrador having a sh1t" analogy someone came up with recently...
Munge my brother has a white one it's LOVELLYY in the flesh.
Fozzybear. Why not have the Heckler resprayed?
I said this on another thread, people expect a total bargain on here and collectively drive down prices and people tend to overpay on ebay.
As an example, I offered my Lemond for £290 with postage to be negotiated. Someone wanted it posting for £290, I thought that was too low so I went off to ebay where someone collected it for £410. I have to pay £40 in fees, but I'm still £100 up on the deal I would have got on here.
Fozzybear
I still might be interested, tho I have a couple of dilemas.
1} I should sell my Ellsworth Moment frame first (sensible thing to do, it will force me to pull my finger out and get it sold, otherwise it will just sit another 6 months losing value), allthough I can actually afford to buy your frame without selling the Ellsworth first.
2) I'm 5'10" and, although I would normally fit a medium, a few of the reviews say the TT is short and recommend the large frame with short stem.
So I'm thinking about it at the mo.
A point to the person above, I live in Yorkshire so his gfs is the nearest location.
If anyone's interested in a 2006 mk2 moment

b.a.nana i've sent you a mail.
i'm 5'9 and 31" leg i run an inline post and 70mm stem. i can bring it up built and strip it in front of you but you won't be able to give it a go in anger.
Foz
fozzy n banana; I'm 5'10 with a 31ish inseam and ride a medium nomad Mk1 with an 80mm stem (in white and yes it is lovely, despite looking a bit like a labrador having a shit, or brian from family guy dragging his worm-infested arse around the carpet...).
theres an FAQ on SC website where they cover the fact that at 5'9, 5'10 you straddle medium and large sizes.
http://www.santacruzbikes.co.uk/faqs/6.html
B.A.Nana I rode a medium Heckler. Not a problem. I think large would be a step too far. How much were you selling your moment for?
hora, not sure, I've been waiting to see one come up on ebay to get an idea of a price, but i've not seen one in the last few months. I was thinking £550 with bits left on, seatclamp, headset, front deraillier. All the bearings/bushes are in good order as is the shock.
Whats wrong with it? Just the itch? I had an ID- hated it, I felt sat on it rather that in/with it.
I want a change and a new project 😉 It is a superb trail bike, I've really enjoyed riding it in the Lakes and Dales/Howgills etc the BB is 14" so it's probably not the best for short techy playing around throwing yourself down stuff in the local woods/quarry.
