Last time I rode this descent, I seem to remember it was in the process of being surfaced and so probably not worth the effort anymore.  Anyone know if that is correct?

We've got a week in Hawkshead from Saturday and usually spend a day riding around Claife Heights.  IF (....) Colthouse was the best descent, what would folk say is now the the route of choice?  Something off to the north, or east to the shore of Windermere?

And while I'm asking, what's the state of the Grizedale off piste currently?

Thanks!

Colthouse has been completely ruined. Crazy really as the narrow single track bit near the bottom is still there but the rest is a rough giant fire road to nowhere.  Better doing the cheeky downhill of Latterbarrow if it’s quiet in the evening.

Ah, shame.  I think I've walked that Latterbarrow footpath.

If you want to stay legit, probably one of the BW descents to Belle Grange, or if not, Latterbarrow as suggested.

The BW down past Basecamp is cool. Aim for the single track rather than then forest roads.
