Hi does anybody know if the cf mtb wheelsets sold on ebay for £309 are any good?

Cheap carbon wheels on eBay, they'll look good but the QC won't be there. You might get lucky but I wouldn't risk it, buy some decent alu rims from a shop and get on with your life.

IMO if you're going to buy "direct" Chinese carbon wheels, go direct and go to somebody with a reputation - lightbicycle, farsports, ican, ...

I’ve bought direct from Nextie and Light Bicycle over the years and currently have 6 sets from the above pair and haven’t had a problem.
