On my uprising. Not in the usual crack hotspot place either (which I've also been a victim of)! Waiting to see what the friendly bike shop says

What do you think?

Looks rather terminal to me, I was familiar with cracks a few years ago in a past life on Lapierres

Hope the LBS come up trumps with a new frame.

Luckily you have a bike from a manufacturer with an unparalleled reputation and impeachable track record. And a distributor who goes the extra mile and are second to none.

I suspect there's not much mad optimism amongst Uprising owners, just resignation that they have a frame that's unlikely to ever get any money second hand so might aswell keep plugging away... I certainly wouldn't show any optimism or bravery in buying one second hand.

I agree. But to the left of it there is a honking great crack.

it's a long running STW in-joke and someone posts it in every 'crack' thread. It really became a 'thing' after one particular thread (a Cube IIRC) where the OP was adamant it was cracked, everyone else thought it looked suspiciously like the edge of a strip of heli-tape, and the OP then tried to let the subject quietly die off...

So a chainstay could be snapped clean in two and someone will say it's a sticker.

You know that point at which a joke has to be explained ๐Ÿ˜‰

The worse thing is I am aware of the joke, and I was just riffing on it. I don't know if I have the heart to say anything now, as Crashtestmonkey has given such an earnest explanation ๐Ÿ™

I turned the bike upside down to give it a clean and noticed it. It doesn't go right around the stay only halfway. That area is in tension, the other side of the stay is probably in compression I suspect.

Why do people insist on removing structural mud from bikes?

bloke who'd read it on here got home *very* drunk, opened wardrobe door and widdled all over his wife's shoes. Swore blind he only did it because he'd read it on here. Not really a 'revenge' wee though, I guess.

Badger, or someone with a similarly sensitive rage switch.

(I know it wasn't really badger).

That chip on the left where there the non existent mud clearance is, that's what caused the crack. Impact damage and therefore your fault.

btw I don't think posting on a forum did heihei any favours when his following broke as the Evil guys had a paddy about it.

What do you think of running chainless?
Maybe the lack of resistance from the chain in the suspension action caused it.. best not send this photo to Evil.

I have to ask - is that the frame number "permanently" marked on the frame, for crime recovery purposes amongst others, with Dymo tape?

You don't seem to get the "It'll polish out" one much around here.

But it will, honest.
