Sorry I know this is an old one - are any of the cheap helmet cams any good? Any recommendations?

How cheap do you mean?
I've had one of these cheapo Muvi copies for about a year. Works OK but battery only lasts about an hour.
For the price it's been fantastic!

I've got the MD08 or whatever it's called, the really cheep £8 one.

It's good enough, you cans ee a difference between the picture quality and that of a GoPro, but then its 4% of the cost! And at youtube resolution/compression its hardly noticeable.

Downside is the lack of any kind of useable chest mount as it wobbles too much. And it struggles in the woods by dropping to half the frame rate/double the exposure meaning everything blurs and goes a bit blair witch.

on a muvi camera, absolutely fantastic bit of kit,

and one of these, a lot cheaper, and it works well, looks like an Electron bike light.
