[Closed] Chainring bolts - how tight to be safe?

Ok, Just got a new chain guide and I'm using my old chainring bolts. The new guide must be thicker than the old one as the chainring bolts dont screw in as much as before, i'd say they use about half of the thread on the sleeve that they screw into.

is this enough to be safe (it certainly feels secure)? Or do you guys think a new set of chainring bolts should be on the cards?

Cheers!

Ideally new bolts, I bought some long ones from charliethe bike monger for cheap, although you should be ok in the mean time.

sounds worth a try-a good few mm engagement? grease them and nip up tight.
