Since I've built up my BFe and started getting some use out of it, I've had the chain drop off a few times so I reckon it's time to fit a chain guide.

I don't have the first clue about chain guides, never having used one before so I could do with some suggestions as to what would be best. The frame has an ISCG05 mount so that probably narrows it down a bit.
I'm after something decent quality but don't want to spend a fortune if possible.

Hi mate, don't know if it's any good to you, got a gold Stinger for sale (the type that is held in by the BB) only used for a week in the Alps. £15 posted if you'd like it.

Looks like the Stinger's the guide of choice then!
Cheers for the offer Scud but I'm gonna go for an ISCG mount one.

buy the superstar one which is identical and considerably cheaper, using a BB mount on my five that has been running perfectly for nearly 2 years, including an alps trip.

Blackspire Stinger here too, does exactly what I wanted for about £75 less than most other alternatives.

Can't comment on the Superstar guide, it must be bloody cheap to be considerably cheaper than a Stinger and personally I find the Superstar logo absolutely gopping.

Sorry Superstar.

If I was you I'd go for the BB mount one - it'll work just as well, but it doesn't run the risk of fouling your inner chainring bolts. Plus if you do take a big impact on it, it won't break your ISCG tabs - instead it'll rotate up out of the way. Also, (and I can't really believe I'm saying this) it's lighter, what with not having three bolts and a larger backplate.

sorry to hijack your thread but im in the same situation, fitted xt 2x10 on my hemlock, not dropped a chain yet but get a top on chain slap on the real rough stuff. i was going to get a Bionicon V.02 Chain Guide but i also ride the bike to work everyday and didnt want the guide fitted all the time as its going to wear out the plastic block

is the Blackspire Stinger a better option, will need the bb mounted one for the hemlock. is the one in the link bellow the one i need? can i use this without a bash ring
