Cups just slot in. I've used them before and have a set in the shed if you're interested, £15 posted?
I currently use a reducing headset, an FSA Orbit Z1.5 R, good piece of kit but around 350 if you can find one.

You can get cups. There are some in mine.

Or use a reducer headset, there are loads about. Just make sure that a) they're not too deep insertion, and b) you have knob clearance on the downtube for your forks.

btw what forks are you running ? this is to replace fatty ultra dlr80 ones i measure the a to c at 485mm so im thinking reba 115mm is pretty much spot on in a swap that or a 120mm fox is there are any

Bulb-End; the Orbit Z1.5R is what I've used too, and won't alter the height of things at all, but you could also run a normal reducer headset, but this would increase the stack height/amount of steerer tube needed.

Running the Z1.5R with a 100mm fork was fine. But as mentioned; watch out that the knobs/caps on your forks will clear the downtube. A Reba 115/120 will be fine.

BTW, I think the above poster meant £50, not £350!!!

Good, so you're keeping the Dale frame then?

Might you be selling the forks, in that case? They could pop on a friend's bike, actually.

Sorry to butt in but Rudeboy, I am building up a taurine at the mo' and was hoping to use a set of Magura Odur 100mm forks - is this reducer headset what I need to fit them?

Yes, either of the FSA ones will be fine.

Basically, it replaces the large diameter bearing, and cups, of the Headshock system. You get alu cups which press into the frame, and smaller diameter bearings to take a 1 1/8 fork. Be very careful when removing/fitting the cups, to avoid damaging the frame, of course. Possibly worth going to a Cannondale dealer, who know about such things, to swap the headsets over.

Of course, the Lefty is the proper fork to use, on a Dale frame!

Firebulb; Cannondale forks are silly money, on their own! Mental!

Johnny63 - reducer headsets like the Orbit Z1.5R won't fit cannondale carbon SI headtubes. You will have to get an adapter from a cannondale dealer.(this is the case with rush frames - I assume taurines are the same)

Tell me about it. I bought a Lefty off here over a year ago. Turned down a nice set of wheels for an extra £100. Then had to buy a Lefty Hub for £70,and swapped the rim over. For the extra £30, I cooduv saved meself the hassle. And had a nice Hope hubbed rear wheel spare too! FAIL.

Ooh, I din't know the info that nostoc posted.

Are the Rush and taurine frames a different HT diameter? Strange...

Those FSA adapter headsets are designed to be used with Dale frames, and mine certainly went in ok.
