So, my 2004 lefty max has developed a clunk at top out and I suspect it is bearing migration.

I have had the fork serviced annually and presume these are reset at that time so I haven't tried this myself yet, but it sounds like it now needs doing.

Plenty of discussion threads about this but of the two vides that seem to exist in the entire 'net, this wins for comedy short shorts value.

But is it this simple. Top cap off and bang bang bang!?!?!?

It just looks a bit, well, brutal?

It's best to do it not wearing pants. Says so in the manual.

depending on the tolerances on your bearings and how much you use it you may need to reset them quite regularly.

I had one that would need doing every month or so, and one that needed doing almost after every ride.

By the time it's topping out its really in need of a reset, you will often notice reduced travel/ride height as they creep.
