Hi, ive been looking at the Sonder Evol which offers two upgrades with either the CC DBIL air shock or the kitsuma version.

I have the CC DBIL air shock on another bike and i quite like it.

Does anyone have any expereince of both? Whay am i getting for my extra money?

Many thanks

Ian

The main differences are larger main shaft, tool free adjustment, smaller reservoir, tapered air can, new piston.

Does this mean it feels differerent? Or just a greater lifespan?

Im struggling to find a comparison between the two different products

Also is it worth more of my money?

Ian

Well I've owned a couple of the old DB air and the inlines, so I can tell you about the comparison between those.

The DB Airs basically had a much more damped feel on the trail, more grip and control and for me an unflustered feeling, like it was hard to get out of its depth.

It could feel a bit dead and disconnected from the trail, which I actually liked, but you could dial that out as well.

Honestly it was my favourite air shock ( I've also had the fox X2 & ohlins stx ). If it's a reasonable upgrade cost and you're going to be tackling rugged terrain, I'd spring for the kitsuma personally.

If it's for tamer riding and you value making progress everywhere, then maybe stick with the inline.

ah I didn't read that right. The kitsuma is an upgrade. the IL will barely last a year before it needs a service and that is with not much riding. I would get the Kitsuma over the IL.

Some people have found the range of adjustment on the Kitsuma to better suit bigger or harder hitting riders. The difference between it and the inline seems to be greater than between the old Air CS piggy back shock and the in-line. Assuming that they want to charge you hundreds of pounds more for the Kitsuma over the inline, and that you’re a light rider, get the inline. If it’s the same price… grab it and be ready to ask for some extra tuning when you first get it serviced.
