Mrs comes home with bike of a friends kid. Kona Caldera..anyway the gears dont work can you fix it? Husband used to fix them but he's ****ed off. Drag it out the garage today, headset loose. Strip grease, put back together...it still wont tighten..not enough spacers for top cap to grip!!! Try and spin front wheel, it doesnt move, strip hub, clean, regrease... It doesnt have enough bearings in one side!!!

Change brake cables inner and outer, change gear cables inner and outer..ferrals were obviously not a thing for whoever did it last time. Re adjust mech stops for front mech.....why the **** do people touch them?

****ing hours later and its almost done..  he must have ****ing hated his kids too if he let them rude that!!!

.and now I have to bbq a chicken as the outlaws are on the way...luckily they are running late as normal...someone give me a beer.

Next week come home with a pile of torn clothes belonging to a friends kid and ask your wife to mend them. Of course they'll need washed, dried and ironed as well.

If it gets the kid out on his bike and let’s him have some fun even though his dads abandoned him it’s worth every frustrating second.

Tell the kid how fun bicycle maintenance can be. Two birds one stone etc.

I've fixed up a few bikes for friends' children. It's nice to do a good turn every now and then.

Be a bike mechanic they said, it will be fun they said.....

So many shop jobs can be like that, "just a gear tune", "just tighten the brakes"
