i've not seen this before, but somehow a friend has managed to snap a cog on the cassette! can you get replacements?? otherwise, cassette chain etc.. are fine if a bit worn.

Titanium joy. Just think of the stuff you could climb with a 20t granny ring and a 39t sprocket.
yes and no, you can buy all sprocket sizes, but for the cassette you probably have you can't. At a guess the sprocket is one of the larger ones, it will be riveted to a carrier or to its fellow sprockets. For the later case you could drill the rivets and change sprocket. But the effort involved? and the fact that no equivalent is available after market means you would be looking to buy expensive single sprockets or a second cassette and drilling the rivets to use it for spares.
