For my Lumix G1 so fairly small camera bag needed, prefer one that straps in front of me, lend pointing down, easy to get the camera out of.

What do you use?

I got a Peli Micro case, and with a bit of inventive velcro it sits perfectly on the shoulder strap of my camelbak, so it's right where you need to get to it in a hurry. The case is pretty much indestructible, nearly waterproof and quick to open / close - although I do worry that my collarbone might be at risk if I did fall on it!

Suppose it depends what is more important - your collarbone or your camera?

Have a search for Think Tank Photo - I think they distribute through Snapperfish.
They make a case called 'digital holster' and a corresponding chest harness. They might be a bit big for your camera though - I've got the '10' size & my D80 fits in snug with the 18-135 lens.

EDIT - I should have said the harness straps are barely.noticeable under any other pack you might be wearing.

I've given up on all that and got an Olympus Mu.

Waterproof, shock resistant. It just goes in my top pocket and is easy to whip out any time.

Better the camera you use that the one that lives in its secure nest and is too much faff to take out. Mind you, I'm lazy ๐Ÿ™‚
