Just wondering how the bike arrives and what needs building on the bike is it a simple case of putting handlebars etc on or quite difficult?
also
anyone had any good/bad exsperiences with ubyk?
anyone?!?
I don't know about them in particular but a mail order bike might need you to fit the front wheel, stem/bars, seatpost and pedals.
I have seen some come in a huge box ready to ride though. Give them a call and ask them.
I popped into the shop in Oxford (for the first time) a couple of weeks ago and was less than impressed with the customer service, so won't be going back in a hurry!
Yup. They make Mountain Mania in Didcot look good...
As a supposed custom bike builder I was surprised they weren't interested in changing a stem on an Alpine a mate test-rode.
Bought my nomad frame from them - exceptional service & comms, impressed & happy to reccomend
OP, you do seem to have an odd posting history. Can't put my finger on it, but definitely odd.
All I had to build was the seat post, seat, handle bars and pedals. Great to deal with, had delays getting my bike but kept me well informed.
Happy customer and would use them again without question.
bearne, i just post what i want really mate.

Whereas checking someones posting history isn't odd at all....
I bought a bike from Ubyk and have to say that their service couldnt be faulted at all. I thought they were brilliant and couldnt do enough.
Bike came in a large box - think i had to add the handlebars. Bike generally come without pedals so i did that as well. No issues.
Ah, I feel bad now. Sos.
Can't help with the distance ordering side but I have bought a few bits and pieces from the shop, including more recently a salsa spearfish, and they have been excellent throughout. The guys there are very knowledgable, very helpful and really focused on getting the bike exactly as I wanted. Highly recommended.
Used them for my look 675, granted I picked it up but they were more than helpful throughout the whole process and I was a customer from hell! Would highly reccomend to be honest.
Any later views? Buying online from them?
I bought an orbea rallon frame from them in december last year, all went smoothly, frame turned up when it was supposed to (2 weeks from ordering) , no complaints from me.
I've never bought a bike from them but have bought the odd part. Sent out the same day and arrived less than 48 hours after I ordered. Never had to get in contact with them for any reason so dunno about the CS.
Went in about 4 months ago, and had a very interesting chat about a custom build road bike. They seemed very keen and were going to mail me a quote.
It never came!
As a result I spent my money elsewhere.
Not impressed.
Maybe they thought you were a mess around. ๐
Bought a Nukeproof Mega TR 275 from them this year. Bike arrived well packaged and only assembly was wheels on, handlebars on, undo the protection on the frame /forks.Set up the forks and shock and bike was good to go. Took about a week to come although they said 3-4 days.Would buy again from them if they had what I was looking for.
They got me a test ride on an alpine 160 without charge but it did not fit my intended use. When I turned up to place an order for a Heckler they said there's something else you might want to try and wheeled out the Rallon. I think the words were "we close at 5pm, bring it back" and let me go ride it for 2 hours! Got home without doing the shit I should have done and covered in mud much to the wife's bemusement.
So, can't complain about the service there, was a bit if an extended affair getting a spare Gear hanger. Several arrived but they weren't the right ones. Got there in the end though.
Bloody love the Rallon though, it's been ace. I'm local to them so can't vouch for mail order.
I brought my hope wheels from them, turned up quickly at a good price, would use again for sure
