[Closed] Brakes.....'Buzzing'?

I don't know if anyone can help as I have done loads of the usual checks, but my brakes 'buzz' when applied.....

I have checked:

1. Brake pads for uneven wear
2. Pistons are working correctly
3. Brake caliper alignment

However, when I first noticed this 'buzzing' I had the current brake disc on the rear where the buzzing was coming from - since then as part of the checks I have shifted the brake disc to the front and guess what....the 'buzzing is now on the front!

So as a matter of elimination I figure that it is the brake disc that I have a problem with? But the brake disc looks in perfect condition and it is not warped in anyway (that I can see anyway!), i.e. it does not rub on the pads as it passes through the caliper.

I suppose I am just asking whether anyone has any suggestions before I shell out for a new Hope Floating rotor for the front?

If it helps or anyone has had a similar case of 'buzzing' the brakes are Hope Tech M4.

some brakes do make odd noises esp with very light pressure IME - I just put it down to the arrangement of the holes

Does it annoy you or just worried you're going to die ?

I had this on my front Tech M4 with floating rotor on my last ride (3rd with the brakes). It was doing it quite a lot and then stopped but was under light pressure I think. I doubt it's anything to worry about.

They are more or less brand new.

A bit of both! I had a bad accident a year or so ago and DO NOT want a repeat! It can also be bloody annoying - but I suppose it was more about me not wanting it to destroy my brake pads/calipers in anyway if it was the disc?

The general census seems to be not to worry about it? So the questions is can I???

Had exactly the same, switched to a 180mm XT rotor and it stopped, put a 160mm XT on the rear to match and had judder again. On closer inspection, though both had concentric braking surfaces(The Hopes didn't, their inner edges tapered between the spokes), the 160mm had a shallower braking surface so the lower face of the pads caught on the rotor's spokes.Obvious really, but if you're trying to clamp a rotor with "imperfections", then you're bound to get some sort of vibrations.

Silly question...
Its not one of the arms of the spring pad holder thingy.
I've had a buzzing noise when my Avid pads are getting a bit low and they have a similar retention thing.
I've been with another hope user who had something similar even though there was a fair amount of pad left. Try it with either new pads to see, or remove the springy thingy.
