Hi,

Looking for a bit of advice. I currently have a set of slx m7000 that have been back under warranty and replaced with a new set due to the wandering bite point issue. The rear on the new set has developed the same problem after a month so they need to be sent back again.

The turnaround time last time was over a month so I'm thinking of buying a new brakeset and selling the warranty replacement. Question is what to go for? Have the issues been resolved in the xtm8000s? I was also looking at the zees, any issues with them?

Alternatively the magura mt5 have received excellent reviews. Anyone of any real world experience of them?

one question is hos do your shifter(s) attach? If Ispec 2 then you will either have to stick with Shimano or get a new shifter(s) or a ope adapter for anything ispec B compatible (eg hope)

Get some Sram Guide RS. Will fit well with your Sram shifters and they are great brakes.

I have the M8000s and they have the wandering bitepoint (the rear, at least).

no issues with Zee, saint or the older SLX/XT. I'd probably just go for an M615

The bikes in our house have gone through several iterations of Shimano old and new XTR and XT. All have have the same inconsistency problem, constantly needing bleeding. Eventually got a set of Hope E4 which are awesome. Newest bike though came with SRAM guides. These have to be the best brakes I've ever had, lots of modulation but stopping power too. Consistent every time you pull the lever. Never had to be bled yet. Only downside is they eat brake pads. The matchmaker X kit ties in nicely with the XO1 set up too.

One things for sure, I will never buy shimano brakes again.

4 sets of 2016/2017 slx/xt in our garage and all are spot on. A couple have been bled using Epic Bleed Kit. Superb brakes compared to the old Hope's..

Weird, innit. All good here too. The only problem I had was a "wandering bite point" ony Pact after I'd cut the hoses and had to bleed them. I did it again, following the Shimano instructions to the letter and they've been fine since.

I really hate to be pedantic, but a dilemma is when you can't decide between two options. What you are facing is a trilemma.
