I need to buy my 7 year old a new bike. His older brother has an Islabike and brothers being brothers, he doesn't want the same. Any ideas of an alternative (although I think Islabikes take some beating)

Cheers

Have a look at the Carrera Blast from Halfords.

My boy loves his Specialized Hotrock 20. He does everything on it. His sister on the other hand loves her Isla bike.

The Spesh Hotrock is very near perfect, all I did was add a mega range cassette at the back and and he now climbs everything in his path. He turns 8 next month and he has done most of the Cwmcarn XC route in South Wales.

We were given a Scott Scale 20" bike and it is the best 'shape' (geometry) of any of the kids bikes we have (x4)/ have tried.
My eldest also has just got a Kona Hula 24 (2010), and again it seems really good geometry - but not as good kit as the 2008 model we tried that a friend had.

I do think there is a great market, like Isla bikes have tapped into, for simple, lighter kids bikes.
