Morning all, looking for some advice as per the title if possible. On the Planet X website, the Bootzipper is listed as having a low tech paint finish. Now this is fine, I'm not fussed about the aesthetic, but I don't want it to turn into a rusted shadow of its former self after a few wet rides. Can anyone tell me if this is the case?
Also I'm hovering around 5'9 - would a medium frame be too far off the mark?
Thanks for the help, it'd be appreciated.
Expect spider rust marks I guess like Stanton's used to be when they offered that raw finish
It'll only be surface rust anyway so yh
If you are worried buy a scandal or whippet etc.
Its probably going to change but its steel, its going to be surface only.
You can buy oils to spray on. Might be worth it for the inside.
How long do you keep frames for? If less than 5 years then I personally wouldn't worry about it.
Thanks chaps. i can live with a bit of patina on the outside, and I'd imagine a light coat of Dinitrol inside would do the job. I only really asked the question because Planet X draw attention to it in the description.
I thought the "phosphate" finish was an anti rust phosphate dip that a lot of steel frames have, but with no fancy aesthetic stuff over the top?
Obviously that's quite a difference to it needing anti-rust treatment straight out of the box, so hopefully someone will pick me up if I'm wrong.
