Got a 2002 Mongoose Motivator ( very cheap bmx) as a shop bike, and need to take of the freehub ( rear cog). I purchased a 4 prong bmx removal tool, which isn't quite the right size though. A few mm to big in diamter ( the distance of the 4 prongs ). Thought the freehub/wheel may be a Suntour one, but they seem different. Had a look at parks site and that hasn't helped either. Not sure what to try next. It has 4 prongs and is very similar to the std 4 prong bmx one, but unless my tool is out of size it's slightly different.

the axle is a smaller than usual bmx diamter too, if that makes any difference.

any ideas?.

any ideas?.

Grinder?

My shagged-out Haro came with a 3-point freewheel for some reason, couldn't find the right tool, so smacked it off with a punch and a coarse-grade hammer. But that's a bit all-or-nothing.

yeah, too true.

Some amazing research has now led me to believe that the freehub is a 16 tooth ACS with 4 prongs. Just need to find a tool now.

Good to know I may use my hammer too.
