[#945741]

Me 10 year old lad is hoping for a BMX at Xmas. Whats Hip and whats a dud. Price guide is £140 ish. He will only ride it around the street to his mates and knock around the local woods. There is a realy good skate park near too but I don't think he will be brave enough to attempt it.

Now he has seen a Rooster big daddy with mag tuff wheels is this a good BMX http://www.all-about-the-bike.co.uk/rooster-big-daddy-neon-green--black-mag-wheels-bmx-2009---free-delivery-2604-p.asp

Or a Btwin from decathalon http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/bmx-x-up-48722222/

To be honest - go to radbmx.co.uk - friendly guys, and look for their shop details - "Stodgy" will help you out and tell you the do's dont and what to look for at your given price point.

sprog James had almost the same Felt at 10 years old, liked it alot and really moved him on - so good choice, but I would also chat to the BMX shops, but prob best deal will be a discounted one from the big boys

If interested I will be listing my 13-yr olds Hoffman on ebay tomorrow night, good wheels and some nice upgrades (wethepeople kit). I know you may not be looking for second hand but may be a good starter for low £s???

I got my oldest a Halfords special for 100 down from 160 for his 12th last new year. I didn't think he would be brave enough to hit the skate park seeing as it's a teenager hang out. The stickers were ripped off and replaced and we've done a few upgrades. He does all manner of tricks now and the kids call him Dave Mirra who I think is a good BMXer. Needless to say there will be a new betterer and more expensive one along this birthday but it's money well spent I think. Of course he wanted an all singing and all dancing one to start off but I told him that he could just put up with the Halfords thing until he could out ride it. That only took about 3 months. I'm glad it went that way because it could have been an expensive garage ornament.
