Do they make a mint sauce-style set yet?
thisisnotaspoon .Yes, it's a well known fact that everyone was blind beyond middle age because Oakley hadn't come allong to save them! Do you wear Oakleys 24/7, or is it just sunshine whilst riding the bike that causes blindness?
Tinted glass that doesn't cut down uv rays causes pupil dilation allowing more uv into the eye than would be possible were you to simply squint.
Basically, no sunglasses are better for your eyes than cheap nasty ones as your natural squinting reflex protects them. There are documented cases of people damaging their eyesight by wearing cheap sunglasses in sunny climbs. May not be something to worry about in a forest in Scotland though. Maybe.
Mot sure if the vented lenses help but mine dont fog, vented.
Mine turned up today, lens from my real pair fit fine. Nice to have a different colour option. Radar copies are no where near as good.
C'mon, why would I read all that again.
Apparently, the frames of my existing real Oakleys are made from, and I quote, "O MATTER". Be interesting to see how this magical O Matter compares to the chinese plastic of the ones I've just ordered.
I think it means they're laterally stiff but vertically compliant.
same source of pixie dust as 853?

Are sunny descents okay?
High prices cannot guarantee sufficient
protection as no correlation between high
prices and increased UV protection has been
demonstrated. A 1995 study reported that
"Expensive brands and polarizing sunglasses
do not guarantee optimal UVA
protection." [14] The Australian Competition
and Consumer Commission has also reported
that "[c]onsumers cannot rely on price as an
indicator of quality".

Ordered mine on 10th but the tracking site is broken so no idea where they are.
Thankfully they arent being missed in this weather.
That's in Australia though clubber, we have different sun over here.
Mine ordered 16/4 still showing as Awaiting Supplier. But then I didn't expect next day delivery anyway.

😆
I'm increasingly tempted! Got 2 sets of (real) Jawbone lenses doing very little since I got photochromic ones, could put them to use in a different colour frame!
do it. £9. dont like em, dont use em. sounds perfect to me. i'd pay £9 for the case they come in!
Can anyone recomend some photocromatic riding glasses that:
a) arent copies of 15 year old Oakley designs
b) dont cost £250 like new oakley designs
c) aren't reliant on fitting genuine oakley lenses into fake frames (although I think this might be a good option actualy, how much are the lenses?)
TINAS, my wife is using a pair of Salice glasses, which seem pretty good for photocromatic riding glasses, they go from a light enhancing yellow to a dark brown. I think they were about £80. They were supplied with a set of clear lenses too, as they are a bit yellow for night riding. Tifosi glasses are worth a look at too, seem good quality for the money.
I have a pair of the Oakley black iridium photocromatic lenses and they are very good, clear enough for night riding, and darken pretty well for sunshine, although for a road ride on a sunny day I would probably go for a darker lense.
Order a pair in orange/white yesterday, after all tis only a tenner, so worth a go.....
....now is it too early to start a thread complaining that they are not here next day, in true STW style?
I feel left out.
Even though I have a damaged retina from a sports injury, I don't wear any sunglasses when riding, and only occasionally clear glasses.
Will I die?

I think mine were about £140 retail, but IIRC the VR28 Transition is cheaper.
So, where's the best place to buy some cheap vented lenses for the DX Jawbones that will definitely be UV protective?

DX
Someone recommended visionarylenses (US ebay) on another thread on the same topic I believe.
they look decent for the price but I havent used them myself so cannot confirm!
back OT- got my white/black jawbones today after about 18 days-arguments about UV protection for the price they look fantastic, although one of the rubber leg boots does say livestrong on it- only one mind!!
I've got the pukka Livestrong ones and it only says it on one. Shouldn't say it on either on the black and white ones mind!
Althepal mine had that on the inside of 1 leg but Made in USA...check torx screws.... Check and jawbone logo check.
Got mine after about 3 weeks. Lenses look totally fine and inside the joints is fully colour matched and not just black plastic.
Only thing they don't have is a little serial number on inside of legs.
I'm gona get 3 more sets to make custom colour combos.
Hmm. Don't have mine in front but the black lowers are all black.
Logos, torx screws.. All present and correct!
Anyone else's smell a bit whiffy when you first got them??
I have to admit, I fancy an all black and all white pair so might need to try ordering another pair with the opposit combo colour!
the mrs claims mine smell odd but they seem ok to me.
probably the whiff of child labour.
That has also been mentioned to me!! Anyways, mine smell, and not just of child labour and unicorns tears. Can think of no other way these could be made, and shipped halfway across the world!!
Apologies for rotten typing above- I call them nightshift typos..
Carbon, read your post again and still not sure what you mean... The lower contrasting arms are all the same colour plastic not just sprayed??
think she claimed about them smelling a bit painty. but my eyes can't smell out. god knows why she had them under her nose!
wore them for 1st time last night at a race, they were awesome right up until i crossed the line at the finish, where the heat/slow down made them instantly fog.
i reckon they'd be pretty shite on MTB.
but then thats the jawbone design and nowt to do with dx...
My real Jawbones mist but a quick wipe over and clean with Fairy liquid stopped this. Just wating on postie for the my not so real ones to turn up.
mebs ill try that then. as i said, not a problem at 20 plus, but hot face plus walking pace made them insto fog.
Got my black white ones today. They smell wiffy in a strong crisp flavour way. Frame was a smudge out but a quick twist sorted that out. Nose pieces look a bit rough but fine for the price, hope real oakleys are better anyway. Just a comment on the jawbone design, they sit quite high on my face which is good for riding in the drops on the road which is what I wanted them for, but seems to leave a big gap at the bottom for crud to get in on a mountainbike
To re-enforce what clubber has already posted GENUINE LENSES DO NOT FIT. They are a slightly different shape mostly in the top corner nearest the arms. All is not lost 'tho two minutes filing a pair of gen. clear lenses off cyclestore.co.uk and I now have a killer pair of riding glasses 🙂
Filing lenses? I'm out! Rather be able to put my real lenses back in my real frames if I wanted!
cheers phil, might do just that. be good for goggles on mx bike too! i get hella sweaty there!
eddie - try swapping the nose rubbers, the thinner ones should make them sit closer/lower.
Ah that's what they were. As I say, not complaining for what I want them for the high fit is an asset, I'll have a play with the others anyway
think it depends on shnozz shape, which is why you get 2 sets of nose pads.
despite having quite a romanic nose, mine is fairly narrow at the bridge, so they sit normal like.

As tracknico - that's what the different nose pieces are for - they adjust how high/low on your face the glasses sit. IIRC genuine oakleys come with the lower ones fitted as standard so you change to the (included) higher ones to raise the lenses relative to your eyes.
I assume that the Fakelys different nose pieces do the same ( I did switch mine but can't recall if I actually checked that they made a difference).
Another word of warning for those planning to mix+match frame/jaw colours. Take a close look at the "torx screw" on close examination mine (black/red) look suspiciously like it may actually be some sort of rivet cunningly disguised as a torx screw - haven't tried to remove it as if it's not a screw it will break and I really like these shades!
