I have a Specialized Stumpjumer (s works).. bought some gore "ride on" cables.. sounds straight forward.
Go to fit them and the outer cable is too thick to route through the cable mounts on the top tube ;-(
Anyone else experienced this?
Or know of a thinker cable system like the gore cables?
Currently have the standard shimano xt cables but are struggling with this crap weather....
get a drill/file/dremmel & "ease" the mounts ?
Did think of that for a second... but with it being a carbon frame and the mounts look so thin in the first place ;-/
finding it odd that they have designed it to take very thin cables instead of the standard width???
Shimano is pretty thin (sp41 ??)
yep that will be the one's.. and they are even quite snug!
First time I have heard of this problem on a MTB. Was your frame running continuous outers before?
They are 5mm, the low friction unsealed versions are 4mm or there is a semi sealed pro system which is also 4mm.
Drop me an email if need be. Sure there must a solution.

Algore - Well this is what I thought...
Yes it does run almost continuous outers except for a short break on the rear stay...
Its a 09 S works HT and had the Shimano gear cables on.
Gore cables I have are fully sealed version... So the none seal low friction version are thinner are they?
leccy tape and swap back for the summer ๐
Oh currently my only other solution is new shimano cables again ;-/
not great when they don't last even a year compared to my other bike that has gore cables that are still going smooth after 4years of heavy riding ;-(
The non-sealed version are a bit thinner (4mm) to fit Campy 11 Road gears. However, they won't last quite so long.
On my Ibis it was a tight squeeze but they did fit- frame error not cable error.
Your cable stops should still be aluminium even of frame is carbon--I think?!?
Al.
The cable stops on my Blur Xcc are carbon....
I'd be tempted to use an o-ring through the cable stop to make a larger, stretchy one!
