More achingly fashionista rather than niche...no? ๐Ÿ™‚

I've been wanting a go at that for ages. Would have to get a fixed wheel for my bike but it looks like a laugh.

We've had a few ghetto games this year - good fun, but it can take a dreadful toll on bikes, shins and heads!

Unicycle hockey is where it's at - like bicycle polo, except with fast and manoeuvrable vehicles, and without all the hanging around that bicycle polo players seem to have to do.

There is a guy in the USA who started playing polo with some bicycle players whilst riding a unicycle, but I think they don't let him play any more, as once he got good at riding, he had such an advantage.

Apparently it did originate in Ireland, yes:

Unicycle hockey is where it's at

But do you know nine other people who have unicycles?

Yes. Actually more like 15, but typically about 10 people turn up at a regular Tuesday night practice.

There's even a UK league (with up to 10 teams playing in each tournament), big European tournaments (there are loads of teams in Germany - like 50 or so I think, more in Switzerland, some in France) and a world championships.

Unicycle hockey is where it's at

I think this is the most spectacular example of out-niche-ing I have ever seen on a thread. ๐Ÿ˜€

Get serious with some bicycle football, or radball

does need quite a unique bike though...

Check out some of the youtube videos, it is pretty amazing stuff.

I can sense micro-nicheing.....

SBC used to play grass-court bike polo with the Johnstone Wheelers.

Good laugh and somewhere I've got a photo of my butt cheek with a ball firmly imprinted on it. That taught me to get in the way of a full-pitch clearance!

May I suggest we invent a MTB version of radball called gnarball?

Seconded.

I also propose that the name of unicycle polo be changed to "Dungeons and Dragons-ball". ๐Ÿ˜‰

You may, but you'll find others who wish only to practice a specific discipline of gnarlball:

jey-gnarlball - only done wearing lycra and very fast
free-lite-core-gnarlball - a derivation of the original free-gnarlball, which came from Canada, and involves specific features, like "Pass it square, eh!"
single-gnarball - played only by those with beards, usually to the sound of exploding knee joints
IT-helpdesk-gnarlball - played exclusively by middle-aged guys working in IT, but only when their wives let them

Most gnarlball, however, would only actually be discussed (and not practised) on gnarlballworld
