Planning a group trip to ride the Marin and Penmachno in August, and it's my turn to help out with the organising...
I've camped at the Swallow Falls complex (and am aware of the YHA and hotel there), stayed at a hotel in town before
... but this time looking for a decent bunkhouse, ideally self-catering type cottage/house - to accommodate around 10 riders.
There's a bewildering array of choice on the relevant websites, but thought I'd start here to see if anyone has any good experiences of bike friendly places they could pass on?
We had a good time at the Cae Gwyn bunkhouse... also have stayed there and B&B'ed and the breakfast was excellent! Good enough to go there twice.
umm... thanks - but i think you're thinking of the wrong 'Coed'?
I know Cae Gwyn - in fact we stayed there about a month ago... and while it is very handy for COED-Y-BRENIN.... it's not so local to BETWS-Y-COED
(sorry for shouting ๐
I've stayed at the Glan Aber hotel a few times, and they also have a bunkhouse within the hotel courtyard. Don't know how good it is, because I was in the main hotel the two times I visited, but the bar and food were spot on after a day on the bike.

Staff were very friendly and let me park the bike in the cellar.
Try the bike friendly Pub/Bunkhouse in Penmachno The Eagles, they are geared up for bikers (one of the reasons the trail was built was to save/generate local businesses). I've eaten there and can give the food the thumbs up, not stayed there tho. They have secure bike storage, and self catering facilities, 100 yrds from the start of the Penmachno trail and a couple of miles to the Marin trail.

We have stayed at the Eagles a couple of times.
If you want to self cater for 10 then I think you will find the kitchen far too small. In addition there is no other communial area to sit other than the bar down stairs which may a good or bad thing!
However, there is the option of a bar meal, but I cannot vouch for that as we have always cooked for ourselves.
Avoid the Vagabond Bunkhouse at all costs, as we found the staff very rude and inconsiderate and the bike lockup is not at all secure.
Thanks guys, wasn't aware of The Eagles (now there's an opportunity for a Hotel name if ever there was one... ๐ )
Have stayed at the Glan Aber but forgot they had a bunkhouse - they were helpful/reassuring with bike storage when i visited too.
found another option which might be a goer as well as the Glan Aber - think we'd prefer to be in Betws-y-Coed for the 'nightlife' ๐
cheers
Glan Aber bunkhouse is highly recommended (by me, anyway). Although you probably need to book well in advance for that many people as it's not a bunkhouse in the sense of large rooms and lots of people sharing, more a prison-cell sort of vibe with tiny rooms with bunkbeds for 2 sharing. Clean and cheap though, excellent breakfast too, and most important, access to the Hotel's late bar...
