My flatmate would like to know what y'all reckon the best tyre is for concrete commute and weekend trail riding? (weekends are nothing too serious, general xc)
mud? grass? rocky? chalky? rooty? fast cornering? mincing? etc?
i realise its a bit vague, but they were pretty much his words. i have the luxury of changing wheels (some may say lazy).... im thinking he just wants an all-rounder....
I've always got on well with Conti double fighters for on and off road use
i am really pleased with a Spesh Captain on the front and a Spesh Sauserwind on the back...
cheers, food for thought. any others?
Maxxis Crossmark 2.1" in a 70A maybe. Its not going to do too well in slop though (but managable) - pumped up with 40psi of course
A road AND trail centre tyre is asking a bit much, just depends whether he wants speed for the commute (and straight line trails) or some knobbles for slop/harsh cornering/braking
im thinkin something with a shallower tread down the middle with larger lugs towards the outer for cornering and when sunken in mud.
