Expect this has been done but couldn't find much...anyone recommend a decent child seat option?
It's to go on an old swift frame so no rack mounts.
And do you go in front or behind?
Little man in 10 months old and time to get him on the bike. Potentially light off road too...
For offroad I'd strongly try and nudge you towards a trailer with a decent flexy hitch (al-la Chariot) so that if you do cock it up and have to lay the bike down the trailer just comes to a halt, no harm done.
Childseats also give your bike a very high centre of gravity and really affect the handling whereas trailers are much more like riding 'normally' you just have to be aware of gaps they won't fit through.
Plenty of threads on here about Trailers.
As for traditional Child Seats; Best one I've used is the Yepp Maxi, really well made and the we lady was very comfy in it, but I know people also think very highly of the Hamax range.
All the Hammax ones are great, the reclining ones (there is 2 models) are better for a younger child as its easier to keep them from falling asleep with their head forwards.
As above though, they do affect handling a lot.
Used ours for the first time last week in the Lakes and the little man loved it.
We went for a Yepp Mini (front mount) and it's brilliant.
Dead easy to fit, and can be removed for normal riding in literally 2 seconds.
Nice to ride with, felt very secure and stable. Our little one was 2 last week and should be good for another year in it, so it will last a fair while.
If mac-ride can sort out there manufacturing issues then they'll be awesome.
