Anyone accessed Macdui via the Sron Riach? thinking about an alternative descent, thinking this could be a corker, the only doubt being a boulder field on the final ridge, so not sure how much portage required and whether it would be worthwhile, all gleaned from a recent Scotlands mountains video, he keeps mentioning a great path, local knowledgde appreciated.
I Ran up there on Tuesday.
I two cyclists rode past me about 1km before Derry lodge.
I met them again on the push up the the start of the hill at sron riach
Its alot of effort for what is a pretty crap descent on a bike.
Much better going up there and down past the hutch onto the glen Derry descent
why do you think it would be crap, to steep and loose? or just boulder fields.
Have done the Cairn Etchachan descent twice and also via Derry Cairngorm, just looking for an alternative challenging descent, i'm certainly not going to make the effort to get up there and then carry back down.
Barring the very top it's been sanitiaed to death might as well rise down the fire road to linn of Dee
Thats a shame, if it's anything like the path up Cairn a ' Mhaim, it would be pretty crap, Oh well maybe i will ascend that way and decide from there, just fancied another adventure on the Big Mac.
Not sure if this is the route you are looking for, but McTrail Rider has a video descending Macdui
That's not the descent to sron riach
I'd push up from sron riach to ride that though as is general convention.
