This thread is vial as it made me concur with njee.

Vile* 😉

That is scary though Juan, I guess it had to happen eventually!

No need for the harshness in this thread some of you need to see some humour in his posts and you seem to think the rules have no humour in them 😯
I like him even if he does do maths and own a white bike

Having met Njee20, and found him to be a right nice bloke, it surprises me to see such vitriol. Njee was proper patient and friendly and decent to everyone when he led us on a Surrey Hills ride.

I'm quite impressed though Njee! Good work lad. Let it out, let yourself be consumed by passion.... 😀

RealMan does deliberately post provocative stuff, but I don't think he's nasty or owt. Does deserve the slagging Njee gave him though. It's Karma! 😆 If you give it, you gotta be prepared to take it back.

If I see RM in Exeter giving it the biggun with his horn, I'd throw my own poo at him. But in a loving, afffectionate manner though. Because I'm a nice kind caring soul. 🙂

Come on a horn that big on real-man bike... He'll go backward each time he'll use it.

😆

JY; what's with the 'lime green' bar tape thing? ❓

What is Lime Green though? 😯

You talking about the bar tape? You do know it's blue, don't you?

Youse were lucky. We outplayed you for much of the game, and you know it.

Good game last 20 mins though.

Yes I have seen the pictures
However beeing the smart type I also read the words in this thread 😉
RM said he wanted Lime Green when I jokingly mentioned the rules

the team selection showed he was scared of you ...bad signal to send out IMHO and yes we were lucky]be fair though it was a dive 😛

This comment doesn't really add anything to the debate here, but I find Hope hubs are far more effective than a bell.

I think a lot of peds just ignore the sound of a bell. I know if I'm walking on a pavement, and I hear a bell behind me, then I purposely ignore it.

Aaw c'mon, my points were all The violations of 'the rules' which RM loves to quote ad nauseum - and yet is showing a flagrant disregard for! :-)0

I do think his use of the air horn is daft though!

I'll let you decide if my real persona is the argumentative arse, or the friendly patient sort 🙂

Well if it's such a pita, why don't you meet somewhere else, rather than the High St? Like the Bus Station or the Cathedral, where there's more space.

I've wondered the same thing, but it's been the done thing for years, I'm not in any position to change it myself, it would take a lot of effort, and it's outside one of the clubs so all the first years can find it.

Also I don't have a playstation or an xbox, I spend too much money on bikes instead. Just letting you know 😉

I'm not a fan of lime green, but it matches our kit, a lot of our riders try and get a bit of lime on their bikes.

I wasn't sure you could go down in my estimation, but there you go...

Pedal fail. You harp on about 'slamming' all the time - and then don't have the requisite 5mm spacer on top of the stem. Bar tape looks stupid. Saddle has far too much padding. And by putting that horn on you have cemented your place as the biggest tool on STW.

Well done.

The only thing I care about in this world is your opinion of me, so I feel compelled to suggest reasons for these faults you have found in me, and beg for your forgiveness.

Nothing against the rules for spds on a road bike. I know some very good riders who run them on their race bikes.
5mm spacer is for carbon steerers. This is not a carbon steerer.
Like I've said, didn't have enough money for new bar tape, but feel free to "bully" me cause I'm poor 🙂
Saddle is just a standard selle italia jobbie I got off ebay for £15. Got a few rips in it which is much worse then any additional padding, but I can tell you it's quite firm, yet comfy.
The horn is wikid, and is staying at least until it runs out of gas.

I'd throw my own poo at him. But in a loving, afffectionate manner though.

😆 I'll be sure to throw some of my own back 😀

15 yeah next year...

Cool, I've gone up 2 years since last time.

I like him [s]even if[/s] because he does do maths and own a white bike

FTFY.

Oh, and just for something to pin up on your wall..

[img] [/img]

..Think you've all deserved it 😀

ALSO, is blue bar tape that bad on a white and black bike? It doesn't clash with anything, and adds a touch of colour. It's not spot on correct, but there's nothing majorly wrong with it.. No?

Danger with the near miss is they may change their mind and change direction.

In a busy high street filled with buses and people, both get ignored completely.

What, they can't find the cathedral? It's the biggest bloody thing in the city! You can see it for flipping miles!!!!! 😯

[img] [/img]

If they can't find that then quite frankly they shoon't be out there on our roads. Too dangerous. 😐

feel free to "bully" me cause I'm poor

Sez the bloke posting a picture of himself riding a nice looking carbon road bike with what looks like Dura Ace on it. 🙄

You'll get bullied cos you deserve to be bullied. 😀

Nice looking? Dura Ace? You've made me the happiest man alive 😀

I don't actually know if I've been to the cathedral or not, as there's a lot of churches in Exeter, and I've never been that great at identifying religious buildings, they all look pretty much the same to me. I do have a feeling there are cobbled roads there though, which aren't nice, and I do know that where we meet is right by a coffee shop with outdoor seating, which is nice.

You'll get bullied cos you deserve to be bullied.

I can tell someone used to be a guidance counsellor.. 😀

EDIT: Just seen your pic. Is that really Exeter cathedral (URL says Exteter...), I don't have a clue where that is. Never seen it in my life.

2nd EDIT: Just checked it out on google maps, thought it was around there, didn't realise there was so much grass around it. Might have to go check it out one day..

Whatever. It's not a cheap bike, is it? And own more than one bike yet plead poverty?

Sheesh. Kids today....

Yeah, I can see how you'd be easily confused...

The conversation here is about bells on bikes in town. US law doesn't require them, but there is one on each of my bikes. I ride singletrack with short sight lines and two way traffic, and I let people know where I am when I approach a blind turn.

Nothing produces psychological dysfunction in a rider who thinks he has smoked you on the downhill like a polite, "Let me pass," ding on the bell when you are three feet behind.

Perhaps it is the fact that they are not universal here is what makes a bell a nice generic greeting when meeting other cyclists.

Let's not turn this into one of your bricklayers threads eh? 😉

I can plead poverty if I've spent all my money and more on bikes, surely? Not like you can really call them assets (not that they'd ever be sold anyways).

Hi Realman, thanks for your commute route tips 🙂
I actually do the Southwick -> Wickham -> Knowle route sometimes and the road to Knowle is horrendous, speed bumps and an eroded surface, it has already caused a trashed Ksyrium wheel (luckily replaced by CRC). The Cams -> Wallington, over the footbridge opposite Sainsburys is fine and during the school hols there are far less obstacles.

Yeah, forgotten about all those speed bumps. That's a pretty horrible commute no matter how you do it then. You do that twice a day every day? Good effort if you do.

I think the last one is the physics building on campus - not sure about the rest.

but seriously.like ironically, just because some american wannabe euros post a list doesn't mean much.
reminds me of the way japanese people sometimes dress.they think it's how european people dress, but it's not.
same with the 'rules'.
only good 'rules' i've found are velocio's.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_de_Vivie

ps.i've got some bbb lime green bar tape on an all black bike.looks rad.so there.cheap too.
pps.had a horn.took it off.be nice to pedestrians,it's easier.

I disagree, whilst clearly written in jest I think they're nearly all spot on! I have a read through every few months for a chuckle.

I think RealBoy and NJee should sort it out in a Race-Off. See who's bestest.

"Here" being in the UK, not on STW 🙂
Instead of an air your you could just roar at folk though. Try shouting allah akbar or something, folk will notice that.

I could have done with one of those horns at Hamsterley on Sunday when several groups of downhill lads were pushing up part of the red route, 4 abreast, totally blocking the trail and didn't have the courtesy to move to one side when politely asked.

Managed to get past one bunch eventually when the trail widened slightly only to get caught behind the next group who were too engrossed in themselves to notice riders actually riding up the trail so I had to ride up at walking pace behind them. Dicks.
