[Closed] bearings - a lesson learnt??

I've been struggling to service my Hope XC hubs, being unable to remove play in the wheel having fitted all new bearings. Two posts for help here and numerous rebuilds and I was no further forward. However a call to Hope suggested that the BRAND NEW bearings I bought from my reputable bearing supplier could be poor quality. Low and behold one of these brand new bearings was tracked down in my hub as having slight play. I put a Hope bearing back in and the play went.

Just thought I'd share that experience... 😯

not poor quality just a different grade of clearance in them. I had a hope team spec set of hubs and they were near impossible to true, because you got .5mm of sideplay in from the freer running larger clearance bearings they get.

Poor quality bearings are indeed crap

Hope don't make bearings BTW - they use good quality generic ones - SKF, FAG etc.
