Hi all, sorry if it's been done before, but I need to replace the bearings in my wheels. What good value bearing removal tool and bearing setting tools are there out there?

you'll probably need a blind bearing puller to fit.

it's not difficult to knock up a simple threaded rod and socket to fit

Slide hammer bearing puller on Amazon is about £36. Also got a set of presses which I used with a threadded bar to refit.

Wheel bearings generally don't need a puller since they're generally the stack-o-spacers type, pretty rare you can't just drift them out.

Refitting, I do have a bearing press and sometimes I even use it but most times I'm a sockets and hammer guy.

On a related note:

A while ago someone here said something like  "you should replace the bearings on your bike, as manufacturers use cheap bearings. Make sure you get good ones".

What are 'good bearings?' How much do they cost?
