Need a new BB386 for the cross bike (vitus energie, shimano crankset). Anyone sourced one of these recently - seems to be slim pickings in the UK?

Had a token one before which had quite a nice design of screwing together, but can't see them available anywhere other than direct from China or Taiwan.

Can't remember the details but don't you buy a more common sort and use an adapter. That's what I did last time. Vitus energies, SRAM cranks.

Maybe it was a pf30 and adapter. Uber bike?

Thanks both. Mister-P that is the one I was thinking of.

Uberbike do have a pf30 shimano that I think has the same cups as bb386, just the shell is narrower. So would go in ok but not sure if there would be width issues on the crankset.

Lovely stuff.ย  I wasn't sure if 386 and 386EVO were the same thing.ย  So many "standards".

@garry_lager

Just buy the bearings, they pop out of the shell / plastic casing with a bit of minor persuasion and then press a new pair back in,ย  they're 6805RS.

Just be careful with plastic GXP adapters that are in there as they're pretty fragile.

Thanks Steve but I've already bolloxed the plastic cup with a screwdriver. Good advice though! Used to banging mtb ones out that cost nowt.

Well that's a bit of a bugger, you could always just buy this one from eBay as that's what's in them originally and use your GXP adapters or change the bearings for the afore mentioned ones.
