Ok, the BB on my cx bike is dying, making some horrible sounds and not spinning as freely as it once did. It is 4 years old so fair play to it, but its one of those FSA Gossamer jobbies and they seem quite expensive.
Research on here suggests a shimano one will fit, which is good as they are cheap and easy to find, but given that I'm tight and can't replace any more bike bits until payday, how hard is it to service a BB yourself?
I've found instructions here
Is this really viable or am i just going to wreck the BB? Will it do any damage to just ride the knackered one until it dies? Will someone come tie my shoes for me?
Why not just remove the top-hats and bearing seals, flush it all with solvent and rebuild with new grease and refit the seals.
Cost = grease.
If no improvement, then I would look at getting a new Token BB from ebay for approx £20 and consider swapping the old FSA bearings later, when not under duress.

That might be the way things go... the driveside cup is not coming out, even with 92kg of meehaja stood on the the end of the lever!
have your turned it the right way?
I think so, opposite way to the arrow?
All lubed up now, feels if not better, at least not worse and not making noise. A good ride will tell if its fixed!
