I'm just building up a Frontier frame bought off the Alpkit eBay website. It's got a small threaded hole in the underside of the BB shell. Is this just a drain hole, or am I missing e.g. a plastic clip that routes the cables/hose round the BB once they exit the triple port at the bottom of the down tube? I thank you.

I don't have a Frontier frame, so take this with a pinch of salt if you wish. But I'd have thought a drain hole wouldn't need to be threaded. Pretty sure the one in my Marin isn't, whereas the adjacent hole which holds a plastic guide for the front mech cable,ย  is indeed threaded.

I have always assumed it's just a drain hole. Never noticed it was threaded until you asked about it, @montgomery.

Like you, I bought the frame only and built up the bike so don't know if a fully-built bike direct from Sonder would have anything in that hole.

I'm missing the plastic port clip from the bottom of the down tube but can't source one anywhere. If you know where I can get one, please let me know.

(I have asked Sonder/Alpkit but no joy.)

I hadn't seen it was threaded until I had it out on the patio in bright sunshine this morning. Hence my question, coupled with some reservations about how close the mech cable is to the chainring. As far as the hole being threaded, meh, that could be seen as attention to detail, allowing one to plug the hole with a small bolt should one desire to. But I take the lawman's point.

Checked my full build Frontier.

Hole is present and threaded, nothing in there except for dirt.ย
