I guess at the bottom is an obvious choice, with the big screen and riders finishing but is it any good being further up? Would you know what was going on overall in the race standings?

When ive been to fort William I usually walk the track and find an good place or places to watch from. I do usually try to watch the last 15 or so riders from the bottom with the big screen though

Go to the top, gradually work your way down. Then you see most of the track and lots of riders. Start early, it takes a long time to see the whole thing.

I was at La Bresse last year and taking in the whole course was much better than standing at the bottom. Some courses have big screens dotted about which helps you keep track of who is leading. We also had Red Bull on the phone which helped.

But we actually found the XC better to watch. As it was a race you could see the riders battling each other. Whereas the DH is just one at a time and there is no battle going on. Sure the jumps and stuff were epic, but actually the XC was more exciting. Also the techy bits they did on the XC were pretty difficult. I tried to ride the XC course the next day and struggled on quite a few bits.

On sundays at fort bill I usually get gondola to the top grab some food in the cafe at the top then walk down the hill slowly stopping every now and then.have a last look around the pits then stand near the grandstand so I have a view of the last descent and the big screens.

The sofa for DH every time.
Trackside wander at XCO/XCC then to the finish for the finish

*Trimix, we were at La Bresse too and the XC was brilliant... womens race the best for a long time.

Did the DH track for practice then got a good spot at the finish...

Yup, easily the best race Ive ever seen. Evan Rob Warner said so in his review. Watching them race up those steep hills bar to bar was incredible. Ness is a machine though. If she ever too to Enduro she woud be a contender for the win.

Yep, Neff and Langvad (why Warner still goes with Langvad not "Langvell" I dont know) put on a great fight.. not Langvads finest day though...

Neff in Enduro or DH would probably be a strong rider.. the tech on XC courses is quite techy!

We have tickets for Lenzerheide again in Aug

We spoke to Neff for sometime in the pits on practice day. She said she only rode up the hills so she could do the downhills. Then we did the trackwalk / practice and spent ages chatting to loads of them. It was great talking line choice with Annie Last and others.

Not many other sports where you can actaually discuss tactics with the athletes.

Im very tempted to do Lenzerhide. La Bresse was probably the best live event Ive ever watched.

Lenzerheide is great, our favorite. Camping at the Fadail lift.. supermarket very close and free BBQ wood and facilities at the small lake. Swimming, free showers... just perfect.

PM if you want the campsite organisers email for the Fadail or they will put you out of town on the main site.

This. Get to the top, work your way down and aim to catch the last few from the finish arena. Enjoy!
