Worth Riding for half a day of pre New Year's Eve shenanigans?
Yes, the gloopy bits are horrendous but given the weather, the singletrack sections are holding up remarkably well. No idea what Leigh Woods is like at the moment but as drainage can be an issue there I'd stick with the Nova loop.
Depends what you want from a ride. Its a smoothed out hard pack trail, which is supposed to be all ability friendly but means it's slippy and oily so a challenge if you want to go quite fast. I enjoy riding it on my trail bike and hardtail. Link it in with Leigh Woods just over the road and 50 Acre wood if the weather is good (which it isnt).
Don't go over biked or its just hard work. Leigh woods is my favourite of the 2 trails. Both can be done in about an hour to an hour and a half.
The new, marked trails are good fun and as usual in great condition as they're fully weatherproof.
Other trails are a slop fest.
That goes for Leigh Woods too which you'd want to do if looking for more than a quick blast.
There are other less well used trails that are riding ok too but you'd need a local to show you them.

Eh? I am utterly unable to reconcile that with the trails I ride. The grip is largely unchanged even in the wet. That's the payback for the hardpack surface

Good for you!
Thanks for all the advice! We've had three great days riding around Bristol, looks like tmrw will be more mince than mayhem!
I'm tempted by a few New Year Day laps, if the weather is slightly better than today.....
I rode Leigh Woods, 50-acre Wood and AC yesterday morning. It was wet but not slippy or claggy. I didn't venture off the machine made stuff though.
Edit: for the pedant(s)
All the trails are man (and woman) made ๐
