I've based this on the fact that the majority of clothing for sale seems to be XL?

My endura stuff use to be XXL, but know I am down to L, but I think the sizes are a bit hit and miss, because in other brands I am a Medium. 🙂

A big plus for me, I stopped drinking lager, went right off the taste of it, now I have a much slimmer waistline! 😉

Depends on the clothes, I reckon.

Bought some Endura tights the other day in a medium - probably could have done with a small as there is plenty of room in the waist and they are a bit long.
My Specialized ones only just go over my waist and they are a large.

I've got a windproof top (Polaris) that's a large (might even be an extra large), but I think the Polaris waterproof I've got is small.....

Makes it nice & easy to buy online....

Maybe most used people used to be fat but have slimmed down and are flogging old gear?

My Specialized tights are a medium (the small being too short), and the ankles are designed for elephants, absolutely gaping, and with no stirrups they just walk up your leg and end up as 3/4, utter toss!

Mine are fine once on, it's just the drawstring round the waist is a bit tight as you pull them on (guess my thighs are probably bigger than my waist all the way round at a guess??).
Never had an issue with them riding up, and they are normally the ones I would pull out of the drawer before others. I think mine are the Rotation tights.....

I have noticed there is a lot of XL stuff in the classifieds, may even have brought it up on the forum. Usually Ton pops along to point out you can be wearing XL and not be a donut lover.

However cycling clothing is misleading size wise, especially Italian gear.

Mine are Therminal EX bibs, I actually just went and tried them on again to remind myself, they've got windproof panels, so they're not very stretchy, and below my calf muscles they're not even remotely tight, just flap around. Even if they had stirrups they're more like Ronhill tracksters than £100 tights! I forget why I didn't try them/thought they'd be ok! If anyone's a medium they're yours for £45, genuinely used once!

Weighed myself yesterday, and had a bit of a shock. Required a sit down to assess how I'd piled on so much weight.

Then i remembered, we have an 8 week old baby and, since I'm awake so much, I eat lods and don't exercise.

Diet has started. Time to lose 1.5 st.

It's funny, despite being fairly fat, and having ME - I am still considerably fitter/more active than most of the people I work with. And some of them are thin.

Kingtut, your leg muscles seem to have evaporated 🙂

Cycle kit sizing is ludicrous half the time. I have had a waterproof jacket and a fleece in S, and a pair of tights bought recently in XXL. Wtf?

Also a pair of Cannondale tights that are L but have no arse. Sorry, but I'm a cyclist and as such have muscles on my bum..?

I race as 'Lard Racing' for a reason. XL- XXL for 6 4 and 17st. Unless it's Italian kit in which case it's generally easier not to bother.

Mol - large in gloves (my hands aren't very big) and lid as well as, a random mix of large, medium and small in tops/jackets, small Endura shorts fall off me.

Indeed MB clothing sizes are very random.

I managed to loose around 4st since January and now fit into Large in most kit. So that is a great result as I exceeded my target for summer. Only XL are the gloves now. At 5'10 I weight around 88-89kg, so probably on the larger side however I do some weight training as well, I'm just strong built 😉

My GF's brother is a proper racing snake, over 6', weights next to nothing and rides at warp speed, races marathons and he can do 80-90km off road marathons (flat-ish though) with an average speed of 29km/h+. But I crash him at the gym with his puny racing snake muscles 😡

Yeah but I'm still losing weight. Total to date is about 6 stone with probably another 3 or 4 to go to be at a "normal" weight 0_0

Gonna start weight training soon to "sculpt the guns" 😆

For about five years I've tried to strike a balance between strength/bulk and cardio fitness/toned-ness (!) Previous to that it was an all out mission to bulk up.

A tricky one to balance but always fun trying!

A mate of mine is an Elite XC racer - yes he's very very quick on an MTB but do I want to resemble a 5'10" beanpole? No.

I'm fat at the moment, lots of reasons, recuperating after brain surgery (again) and radiotherapy being my biggest reasons. Am currently trying to work at it and the plan is to set a long term ride target (next summer) as a reason to get fit & ride. Fitness, most definately not, but it is coming back to me slowly and with difficulty.

Having said that Russel Watson reckoned he'd put 3 1/2 stone on after the same thing, I only put about 12 kg on, so something to be thankful for.

Anyone who has any decent XX(X)L shorts or 3/4's going, let me know, can manage for tops etc but struggle a lot to find decent sized baggy bottoms that fit my burgeoning waist.

No, I pay her to fix me when I break. She does a cracking job of it.

I suspect from your comment, that not many people compliment you on your 5'4" "perfect BMI, heartrate and weight" physique? A real shame.

Try some platform shoes - then they might be able to see you.
