I would totally be up for a full timed loop including all the full on stages, could be a new format?
Speedduro? Xduro? Encountry?
I beat my mates by hours in terms of the whole loop but lost significantly in terms of the stages!
An excellent excuse for a new type of bike...
That would be me! Knees are a bit sore from the 'fight club' mosh pit on Saturday night.
Aluminium hardtail (Nukeproof Scout) probably didn't help but generally performed well.
I'm one of the ones who signed up for the Epic when it was an XC race. I've got an enduro bike so used that, still hated stage 2. I was going to bail if i didn't enjoy stage 3, but i did, so carried on and the stages fell more into my wheelhouse as it went along.
My gripes are def that we signed up for a time over the whole course, not just the stages, but were ranked on the stages only. I did the course 2hrs quicker than the guy who came first in my class.
Also the amount of ebikes in the epic took the piss. I must have seen at least 20 on course and i was in one of the last waves to set off, so no idea how many there actually were. Edit: There are only 2 ebikes registered in the ebike class on the results.
@beefy. Ahem, your mates were waiting for you for at least 20 minutes when you’d absconded.
@scutler Shhhhhh!!!!!

ooooh drama. People illegally using them to reccie the course for the saturday race?
Can’t wait to see the ebikers at ardmoors, I’ll guess they’ll take the long route upto stage 4 than the official route

Last time I rode the race, the boy shucksmith(SP?) got uplifted all the way round in practice before finishing 2nd.
At least the ebikers still gotta pedal.
@rhyswainwright assume you where on a silver Scout and riding with the lady (Vicky?) On the Stanton full bounce? If so I saw you come down stage 6 and you looked like you were flying!!
I was up on Stage 1 on Friday and 2 on the Saturday and Sunday. Stage 2 was much tougher than previous years. If you managed to get down before the rain hit on Saturday you were lucky.
I've put a few images up in a post in my blog.

@fathomer Yes, that was me! The little Scout did well and took me to 3rd hardtail in the Enduro. I was getting particularly into it at the bottom of stage 6. It's one of those trails that just gets more fun the faster you go!
@unsponsored Stage 2 was the most difficult by far IMO. The steep corners in the middle were greasy with the wet rock and the grassy muddy slop lower down was a recipe for carnage. I think I passed 3 crashes in that lower section on my race run alone!
