I'm staying in Manchester on Saturday for work and may have a spare hour of daylight. Is there a pump track there? Seems to suggest there are MTB trails too?

Any local advice would be great

Thanks

Chris

There is indeed a pump track there. It's a good one too. You've got a few miles of trails from there too. Nothing too dramatic, as you'd expect, (though I did actually manage to spanner myself there one day) but if you've got an hour for a pootle round, then it's ideal

Here's mini-binners on the Clayton Vale trails a few years ago. She loves the place, particularly the pump track

Is it all easy to find?

You can't go wrong. It's across the road from City's ground, next to the velodrome (you can park in the velodrome car park). Its not far out of the city centre at all

Literally at the back of the Velodrome - out the back gate, turn left, and either enter the park on the right, or go down the bottom of the road and get on there as it puts you directly on the trials. Good for a blast for an hour.

On the Facebook HSBC National Cycling Centre Site on 25th Feb it recommended not attempting to ride the trails until clearing work to remove fallen trees after the storms & it would be updated once completed. It has not been updated since, they are not very good at updating this site but might be worth checking with them. The other thing is if you are driving there this weekend the 1st of the Summerr Series National BMX Racing is on on Saturday & Sunday, I think it is at the Centre not the Outdoor track. I'm there later so will check, if it is parking is a nightmare

Just don't leave your bike out of sight for even a second.

Nationals BMX are there this weekend. If you do go & are parking, not only don't leave your bike for a second but make sure you lock your vehicle

There's a lot of storm damage at the moment (as of yesterday anyway), but enough is clear to still get a ride in. Trails aren't well maintained - don't expect it to be Glentress ๐Ÿ™‚
