occasional STW'er mchlptchr is currently in Morzine.... (I just checked his profile and he's not been active for 3 years and 10 months so unlikely he'll spot this thread).

HTH.

Arrive on Saturday

Harley festival is a good laugh. Whole place is buzzing usually and some of the bikes are very impressive. Big concert in the main square is good but there's no big name this year. In years past I've seen Status Quo, Simple Minds and Toto!

Yep I'm in Morzine, does look quite large and I've been passed by loads of them on various rides - cliche tastic as two passed , one with zz top blaring out the speakers, the other was Jonny b Goode ! We're up the valley a bit out of town so nice and quiet. FiL arrives today and hates bikes - oh well ! Nice Wx forecast though.

Went a few years ago when it was in town. It's loud and you hadto keep pausing conversation as something motored passed, but apart from that it's nothing major. We saw Status Quo perform on a open top double decker bus too. That's about it.

A few years ago we had a place just along from the Pleney when the Harley's were in town. After the 12,657th hilarious police siren going up and down the road it becomes a bit more annoying!

**** me it's a bit wearing. Noisy as buggery and they aren't exactly good at sharing the road, I got clipped by some **** on the Joux Plane the other morning , reported his plate and the gendarmes were quite keen to go and track them down , 20 of them but as usual 2 or 3 arsehats racing each other, came round a blind hairpin where I was and couldn't get out the way quick enough. Thankfully only mild but could have been bad. I'm up the valley a bit and a load have just come through at 70kmh in a residential street.

Was there the year Toto played at the Harley convention.
That was our first MTB trip after the Thunder in the Glen week in Aviemore.
The guys in Aviemore seemed pretty decent. The ones in Morzine, jeez, were they attention seeking c***s. Will never forget the bloke that was playing Scottish Bagpipe music on loudspeakers on his harley. Rocked up and just parked up outside Bar Robinson to piss off all the brit MTBers. One helluva cheer when a gendarme just patrolled by, and he ****ed off pronto! Same attention seeking prat cruising around Morzine at 7am the next morning, playing bagpipe music still.

We're not there this year though.
