[#2566463]

planning a trip to Islay & was wondering whether it was worth taking the bikes - anyone know of any trails over there for the sober moments between distillery tours?

Try looking up the "Washing Machine Post" which is mainly road based but has some mtb info. All a bit bizarre sounding.

Wouldn't have thought that there was much. The hills on the east side are not that sort of place.maybe the woods. Take a shotgun for the midges. And several sets of waterproofs. bugger the bikes, do the distillery tours.

You can ride from Storakaig (405, 620 ish) to Trudernish 464 525) BUT navigationally difficult, not all rideable, part of path on edge of cliff and bleeding swamp and tussocks at end (aka carry). Path removed from newer OS maps, Streetmap etc however I have old one, drop me a mail if interested. *I really enjoyed it, blazing sun, pretty sure it was a golden eagle hovering with me (huge), and eat at the Harbour Inn
