Went up to Scotland for a weeks camping and biking with the wife very recently and did some of the trail centres. She hasn't done much on her mountain bike recently and I was very pleased for her when she did the Red trails at Dalbeatie & kirroughtree without any crashes.
I on the other hand had a couple of off's on the black runs with the worst being at the terrible twins at dalbeatie, I had done the Slab without any problems but because these where smaller I thought a quick glance would suffice and set off down, unfortunately I was 6" off the line I should have taken and hit a sharp boulder which sent me sky diving over the handle bars and falling hard on my shoulder/back 😳
To make matters worse when I got up and looked at my bike the front wheel had taken a good pounding which meant I couldn't finish the ride 🙁
So it was tail between the legs straighten the wheel as best I could and a slow cycle back to the car with the wife saying don't worry Love it happens to us all 😳 😳
Then it was off to the local bike shop for a new wheel and disc £70 😥 so we could carry on biking for the next couple of days
my stanchions are looking a little worse for wear after a few high speed corners where I may have overestimated my ability to hold a drift over wet, moss covered rocks.
Just below my right knee is still numb to the touch after a tumble a few months ago, no damage to the bike though thankfully.
Was a few months ago now, but my other half punctured the lowers on his Totems in a crash, couple of hundred to replace. That was about the most expensive crash either of us have had.
Mine was a crash at the Enduro Downhill where I ripped the front out of a brand new £40 odd quid jersey. Quite pleased I was wearing body armour for my modesty as well as the protection.
My front wheel wasn't too far off the state of that one after an off at UK Bike Park 3 weeks ago. I managed to bend the wheel so it wouldn't rotate fully and slightly bend the disc in one crash. I did true up the wheel so I could carry on riding but it is very wobbly and made the woodwork bits more interesting and I bent the disc back too.
Later in the day I crashed into a rope after messing up a rock garden and somehow the rope twisted my RH shifter round and snapped it where the barrel adjuster is meaning I couldn't change gears but they were shifting on their own. This also ruined the gear outer cable. Somehow only the shifter was damaged and not the brake lever.
The bike should be fixed tonight.
Well not costly in money but costly in time. Was halfway around the MBR dartmoor killer loop 2 weeks ago - takin' my time (on my own) - doing the stone steps after Grimspound - tried to manual the stobne bridge at the bottom then stopped and over the bars. Damn - not hurt got back on and rode down the rest - got to the bottom - squidgy rear brake - Eh - oh bugger - the fall had seperated the connection to the hose and lever and all my hydraulic fluid was on the floor. Put an end to the killer loop as went back on the road (didn't want to chance the rest without a rear brake on my own!).

A biking mate had a similar tumble a few months back, spent 2 days in hospital after what he described as hitting a soft stone 😯
Satnav took the brunt of a recent fall. Usually satnav, bike and i go in different directions and all end up ok - not this time. I pinged over the bars, bike bounced up in the air, somersaulted, and came down slap bang on the antenna.
Thank goodness Garmin do an exchange program - still not cheap by way better than buying a new.
Had a very minor off in mid-Wales recently and as I fell/rolled down a hill through the heather my cleats wouldn't release.
I was fine (small bruise from the rock that stopped me going all the way to the bottom) but on close examination the shock mount omon my Stumpy is now slightly twisted and the back end of the bikes feels ultra loose.
LBS says it's a write off as it's a 2005 frame!
Costly indeed!
I clipped something in the Peaks at the w/e. I didn't notice till I was cleaning the bike at home, looks like a new rotor & brake pads - £45 :/
The only real thing that has gone wrong for me tech-wise was a broken seat post bolt which cost me the majority of what was turning out to be an awesome summer's ride with Forge and his mate at Kirroughtree.
I would say though well done for attempting the Terrible Twins. I don't think any photos show quite how steep they really are, and I wouldn't even do the second one let alone both. Respect is due.
i tried a brave new line on one of the wharncliffe DH runs last weekend. result: one v bruised leg, fractured pinky, twisted bars ont bike. the biggest cost though is not going to ride the bill before the lifts end for the season on sat/sun.
Utterly inept and fatigued riding up on the Mendips caused me to give it the Superman over the bars, resulting in the agony of a partially dislocated (subluxation) left shoulder and a completely dislocated right shoulder. To add insult to injury I was waddling around like some improbable penguin trying unsuccessfully (my arms were effectively pinned to my side) to pick up my glasses that had flown off onto the ground. Eventually I managed to pop the left one back in myself but the other had to be reset after copious amounts of Morphine at Weston General. A hideous experience I’d rather not repeat, which has knocked my confidence. Plus the Quad link on my E5 snapped at one of the pivot points. Not overly costly but painful and embarrassing.
I scrubbed off my RHS shifter, rear mech and a load of skin off my leg recently. Not happy, but if you don't like getting hurt take up ping-pong.
I was really proud of myself for saving a near crash after landing in the middle of a set of doubles and bouncing around hanging onto the bike. However, I didn't realise that I'd burned through the seat of my shorts on the back tyre and I've spent £75 at the oseopath putting my knee right. It wasn't actually a crash and it's cost me over £100.
May/June Scotland trip 1 Over the bars on McMoab fell down 12 foot and banged side of head on 200yd long rock- gauges/deep scratches on carbon DH bars, did it again OK with concussion plus the steep shoot on the smaller rock. 2 Following day wrote off XT cranks with one footed landings at Ae - pedal dropped off at top of Innerleithen same day as alloy threads and end of crank mushed - so new Saint cranks/arms when rushed to shop at GT and rushed back to Inners to meet mates and fit. but on DH tracks 7 days in Alps only 1 broken spoke (but did replace bars before that trip)
XC ride in Kent in July - XTR rear mech caught and ended up in 7 pieces - as they picked up the bits my mates confirmed my reputation as bike wrecker is maintained!
A proliferation of recent tumbles has left me thinking I need a long travel skill compensator, which could be very costly indeed!
A recent 'off' resulted in front wheel needing to be rebuilt, new carbon brake lever cos it broke and a visit to the chiropractor to sort out my sore back. Not bad for a wuss rider 😳
Pfft, some amateurs on here, I've managed a £2.3k crash before, ended up in a neck brace taped to a hospital bed. Though I can joke about it now, that was no fun at all - in a neck brace staring at the ceiling waiting for a CT scan in the morning to see if it's properly buggered was probably the worst 27 hours of my life.
Top tip - don't ride into the ground really hard!

If we ever meet remind me not to go riding with you 😛
Not surprised a lot of people kill their bikes at Kiroughtree last time I was there I was amazed at how much people were getting away with, by just pedaling at stuff and letting the suspension do its stuff.
Some people weren't even bothering to lift the front wheel on the slab, and just riding at it as fast as they could, and letting there forks smack into it! 😯
Well ChrisE, my collar bone looks rather similar after 4 days into a 28 day trip in the french alps:(
Bike was fine, but the bone cost £500 (not including the wasted holiday cost) and still isn't fixed.
Titz.

+ 1!
I came off last week - dog ran out in front of me and my new direction included a ditch i wasnt previously aware off. Cost was £40 off LBS mechanic for a new wheel (second hand unused - good deal), graze on shoulder and arm.
Couple of weeks ago was on a ride and a guy cracked his helmet. Was a cheap result instead of cracking his skull.
letting there forks smack into it!
hey that's my style!
knacked my XT derailler by clumsy riding - ordered a med cage SLX for £40 - but then worked out how to fix the XT.
Not too bad really.
my injury is pants. It was a week ago and since then I havent had a nights sleep. The orthopedic man said 12 weeks off work (not a good time since they are laying off right now) etc etc.
feeling a bit down......

Fell off in local woods, landed on my knee, been sore for 5 or 6 weeks went to GP he had a look and sent me to A&E,i've cracked the top of my tibula and it's reattatched itself at a very strange angle leaving me with a very odd looking lump sticking out of the side of my leg!
Sorry to hear that ChrisE. I didn't get much sleep for the first 2 or 3 weeks after my busted clavicle, but it's not too bad now (5 weeks).
It's annoying as hell, but don't get too down. 12 weeks sounds a long time now, but once your fixed it won't.
