I'm looking at possibly getting a bivvi bag and had been looking at the Alpkit Hunka but the regular sized one was too small.

Now they've released the XL I am interested again but just want to know whether there is anything else worth considering for the same kind of price. The XL version is £20 more than the regular at £50 which is a bit of an arse but still doesn't seem too bad.

Any other options to consider?

Rab used to do one for about £50 (8yrs ago) that was very well regarded at the time, don't know if they still do it. Anyway the Alpkit bag is great for the price and it's lightweight, It's not a real crazy weather bivi bag (but then you'd be paying £200), but it's waterproof and will be suitable for everything but the most dire conditions. The main let down being it's just a drawcord hood closure which is not the best design, but what the hell at that price. Personally I think it's better to have a bigger bag because you have some room to manouvre and you can store some kit inside aswell.

How about a Rab Survival Zone, £37.50 posted from One Outdoors, mentions that it's a longer length (230cm) so may suit you. Call James to check, he's very helpful.

I have just got the regular Hunk for my son, and its great. Feels a lot nicer than my UK forces issue Bivibag. Think that the jump from £30 to £50 is a bit much though!

I've ordered the Hunka Fat Barsteward version after using the regular one. £50 is still pretty cheap for a decent bivi bag.
