[#11671211]

So This weekends project is to sort out a Tool Wall/Board and shelving.
Ordered some 18mm Ply, paint and timber for battens etc. so all good from that point.
Got a few bits for storing various bits like terry clips & socket strips etc., but what's best for hanging tools etc?
Would I be better to use screws or small headed nails?
Concern with screws is that the thread might damage the tool.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

My wall is using screws as I can get them in easier on the wall, if the thread damages a tool then your tool is pretty delicate...

Mine is mostly screws. Easy to move if you want to shuffle things around. A couple of things are on nails as they have tiny holes

Endless workshop organistation videos on youtube with ideas. If you have the tools for shaping offcuts of wood then you can easily make holders for the bigger stuff.

Magnetic strips are good for the commonly used or awkward things. Like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rolson-42462-Magnetic-Tool-Holder/dp/B001TEVZ4Q/ref=pd_bxgy_2/261-1678497-0412824?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B001TEVZ4Q&pd_rd_r=0cedcaa0-c2e3-4112-83ed-1aef6ff5838e&pd_rd_w=NXVp3&pd_rd_wg=bw4VU&pf_rd_p=dcf35746-0212-418b-a148-30395d107b2d&pf_rd_r=4YPPFBYWPBABW9KDREZB&psc=1&refRID=4YPPFBYWPBABW9KDREZB

Or get a pack of strong magnets, you can get little neodymium ones now that will easily hold up most hand tools. Just epoxy them to your board.

Same as nickjb, screws for most of the items and nails for anything with smaller eyelets, which from memory are stanley knives and a couple of tiddly little sash clamps.

screws

you can grind the head of a screw down to reduce its diameter, and this fit through smaller holes in handles.

A lot of mine are using dowel.

8mm drill then glue them in to place. Worked well for a lot t-type Allen keys/torx, spanners, pliers, etc

18mm ply! You could hang an anvil on that.
