Following previous advice we have M&S home insurance as it covers the bikes. We've got 6 bikes, one would be about £2500 replacement value, a couple £1500 and the rest less than £1000.
The bikes are stored securely at home. I've been really pleased with the cover M&S have offered in the past. The bikes appear to be insured when out of the house (if on the car and locked to the roof rails) and when I've travelled with my bike they've be insured abroad at no extra cost.
Renewal is due and our premium appears to gave increased substantially. I'm guessing it'd be wise to shop around for other quotes. I want the bikes covered on the house insurance as I've had separate insurance for them before it it was pretty costly.
I need a policy that will:
Cover multiple bikes up to about £2000 individual value and about £6000 total value
Cover bikes away from home (including abroad)
I know that insurance companies can be a little vague about what and when bikes are covered. Often you only know how good an unsurance policy is (or isn't!) when you claim.
Has anyone claimed on bike insurance and had good service (or been refused cover), particularly when the bikes are away from home or on the car?
