Anyone here used the 64BCD chainrings from Absolute Black? Details here https://www.absoluteblack.cc/xx1-style-shimano.html. Looking to go 1x10 on a 29er HT and don't want to go for an extender so thinking about one of these rings and a 36T cassette. I wonder how this will work when on the small cogs on the cassette so some real world experience would be good to hear.

NB Thanks in advance to all those who can ride every climb in "the Peak" on 32 x 11-34. It's a lot hillier here than relatively flat places like the Peak District so proper low gears required.

no experience of thse AB rings but do have 3 of marcins other BCD sizes.they are beautifully made and he's good to deal with.

are you planning on 30 up front or less? maybe ending up with a low top gear if so (i run a 30 up front and wouldnt want a smaller top gear than that)

ps i do ride in the peak but enjoy the 40 tooth extender which does mean i can ride up most stuff - dont think i could with a 36 though ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've got an AB 28T on my Solaris, with a One-Up 42 on the back (plus RAD cage). No complaints. I don't use 28x42 that often, but when I do I'm grateful for it ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for the feedback guys.

@roverpig is your 28T mounted on a Shimano 3x crankset? How is the chain line from the 28T to the smaller end of the cassette? I'm wondering whether moving any BB spacers will improve things.

TIA

Yes, inner ring on a Deore triple. Chainline seems fine (shifts into all sprockets just fine) but I don't think I had any option to move it further out (73mm BB shell) so I didn't bother measuring it.
