my dt swiss 4.2 rims are not really up to the job... when riding in rocks, they seem to take more of a beating than some others....this time i am building an xc/all mountain wheel to last, and could do with your suggestions as to which rim to use???

Without getting involved in stans/tubless/build quality etc debate which usually occurs on the 'what rim' threads I find that XM719 Discs offer the best weight/strength compromise for AM use.

stick with mavic.
321, cheap and strong,
or
721 more money but very strong, relatively light (for what it is)

or what v10 said.

must say mavics were always good to me going back to the days of canti brakes... my dt's were a good price from merlin cycles... those boys make good wheels but the rims are like cheese
